Current Contentions in Gender and Social Change Gender Institute end of term event
An interdisciplinary event convening a wide range of scholars from different fields working on gendered topics. All are welcome to this end of semester celebration from StAIGS and the Graduate School.
We're particularly excited to welcome Katharine Jenkins (Glasgow) and Zoe Playdon (UoL) for our keynote talk to promote a healthier conversation about trans rights.
Professor Playdon will be presenting her book, entitled The Hidden Case of Ewan Forbes, which reveals the hidden history of how trans people lost their human rights in the 1960s, told through the life of trans man Sir Ewan Forbes, whose legal case was considered so threatening the media was gagged, those involved sworn to secrecy, and all records of it concealed for decades.
