IET Top 6 Young Women Engineers in the UK 2019Join RASA for a webinar with the legendary Egyptian LGBTQ+ activist, belly dancer, engineer and refugee Shrouk El-Attar.
Shrouk will be giving her ‘Confessions of a Queer Arab' talk where she will share her experiences as an Arab, a member of the LGBTQ+ community, and a refugee in the UK.
There will also be the opportunity to ask questions on the topic of LGBTQ+ rights in Arabian countries, refugee rights within the UK, and the hostile environment policy. Or even about Shrouk's career as a drag belly dancer and how this ties into queer politics.
This really is an incredible opportunity to learn more about the refugee crisis and Shrouk herself is absolutely lovely and a pleasure to listen to.
All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to LGBTQ+ initiatives in Egypt via the Shrouk El-Attar Trust.
We look forward to seeing you all there!
