CIMS PG Symposium 'Memory, Materiality and Touch' - Free
The Cultural Identity and Memory Studies Institute is pleased to invite you to its annual postgraduate symposium, entitled ‘Memory, Materiality and Touch', on Tuesday 16 May. The event aims to showcase the diversity of postgraduate research across the University in relation to memory, identity, and materiality.
Postgraduate students from any discipline are warmly invited to join us for this day-long event. Advance registration is required, so please sign up below! 10:40-11:40 Keynote Lecture by Dr Avishek Parui: ‘Memory, Materiality, Intercorporeality: The post-pandemic perspectives'
Dr Parui is Associate Professor of English at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras.
11:45-12:30 Postgraduate flashtalks by Kate Mackenzie (Modern Languages), Connor Eckersall (Social Anthropology), Lucy Howie (Art History), Mathilde Lyons (Modern Languages) and Alison Hadfield (Ancient History, Psychology & Museum Studies).
12:30–1:45pm Lunch
1:45-3:15pm Postgraduate Panel Discussion ‘Memory, Materiality, and Touch' with Sharonne Specker (Social Anthropology), Chenxiao Jin (Art History), Nashra Usmani (English) and Hadil Louz (Social Anthropology).
3:15-3:30pm Coffee & tea break
3:30-5pm Workshop ‘An Exploration of Memory Recall through writing and drawing' with artist Jonathan Koetsier (All materials will be provided)
