Cultural Memory, Identity and Images CIMS PG Symposium

The Cultural Identity and Memory Studies Institute invites you to its annual postgraduate symposium, entitled ‘Memory, Materiality and Images'. The event aims to showcase the diversity of postgraduate research across the University about memory, identity, and images.

Postgraduate students from any discipline are invited to join us for this day-long event, in person or online. For in-person attendance, advance registration is required, please sign up below. If you are a PG student wishing to join for part of the day only, or if you're not a PG student but would like to attend, please get in touch with Runyuan Bai at [email protected].

The programme includes presentations from St Andrews postgraduate students, Benjamin Ong (Geography and Sustainable Development), Mathilde Lyons (Modern Languages), Dong Xia (English), Aswin Sasi (Physics and Astronomy), Aimee Capraro (Modern Languages), Runyuan Bai (Modern Languages), Kateryna Volochniuk (Art History); and an online panel that includes Anna Coopey (University of Oxford), Wambua Muindi (The University of Nairobi ), and Oksana Sakhatska and Maksym Rutkovsky (Bogdan Khmelnitsky Melitopol State Pedagogical University).

The last event of the day (from 4.40pm to 6pm) is a workshop entitled From Cinegraphic Poetics to Poetic Cinema: Serhii Paradzhanov's Interpretation of ‘Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors' by Mykhailo Kotsiubynsky, led by Dr Nadiia Akulova.
