Centre for Cosmopolitan Studies Keynote Lecture Professor Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht (Stanford University)
You are warmly invited to join us for a Centre for Cosmopolitan Studies keynote lecture to be delivered by Professor Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht, Professor in Literature at Stanford University. The speaker will likely have wide appeal across the humanities.
Professor Gumbrecht's remarkable body of work traverses the disciplines of anthropology, philosophy, comparative literature, history, and German studies. He has written on atmospheres and aesthetics, cultural moods, and the feeling of epochs and events in literature. For the CCS lecture, Professor Gumbrecht will talk on “Knot of the Voice: About the Philosophical Potential of an Understudied Phenomenon” (see flyer for abstract).
The lecture will take place in the John B. Henderson Room, Castlecliffe, 3.30-5.30pm on Wednesday 2 April. People are also welcome to join us virtually via a Teams webinar.
