Book Launch: 'Engineering Reality' by Dr Cornelia Helmcke

Join Centre for Energy Ethics postdoctoral researcher Dr Cornelia Helmcke for an informal event to celebrate the release of her book Engineering Reality: The politics of environmental impact assessments and future challenges of green energy development in Colombia.

At this event Cornelia will present an overview of the central themes from the book. This presentation will allow for questions and further discussions with the audience.

Following this presentation, you are invited to join us for refreshments and further discussion in the Castlecliffe Staff common room.

Engineering Reality offers insights into the power of environmental impact assessments in engineering a reality favourable to any investment, focusing on the highly contested environmental study of a large hydroelectric dam project in southern Colombia, El Quimbo. Deconstructing the highly contested environmental impact assessment of this large dam project, the book proposes the new Energy Data Justice Framework to assess energy projects.

This is an in-person event only.
