Bonn-St Andrews Joint Multidisciplinary Symposium on Infection and Antimicrobial Resistance Infection and Global Health at the University of St Andrews and Universitätsklinikum Bonn's Department of Orthopaedics

To celebrate the ongoing fruitful collaboration between the Universities of Bonn and St Andrews, the University's division of Infection and Global Health and Universitätsklinikum Bonn's Department of Orthopaedics will be hosting a joint multidisciplinary symposium exploring innovation in the diagnosis and management of infection. The event will feature invited participants and collaborators from the St Andrews and Universitätsklinikum Bonn.

Centred around advances in the SLIC (Scattered Light Integrating Collector) technology platform, the symposium will showcase collaborative translational research spanning microbiology, photonics, clinical orthopaedics and rapid diagnostics. Periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) will be explored as a paradigm for infections that are particularly challenging to diagnose and treat, with the discussion further broadening to other demanding surgical site infections.

The symposium will also address the growing challenge of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and how this can be mitigated for throughout the clinical diagnostic and therapeutic workflow.

The symposium aims to foster discussion and strengthen international partnerships, and will provide ample opportunities for networking between scheduled talks.

This collaborative environment supports the aim of St Andrews and Bonn to accelerate the development of next-generation approaches to infection detection and antimicrobial stewardship. Researchers of all disciplines who share this vision and these goals are welcome.

Please register for the event if you would like to attend in-person. This is a hybrid event so you can also join the conference on MS Teams: link to join event.
