Beyond Representation: Knowledge production in times of war and erasure

Glopost and the Centre for Art and Politics are delighted to host a roundtable bringing together Ieva Gudaitytė (University of Oslo), Di Yehorova (Independent Scholar), Vlada Vazheyevskyy, and Kateryna Volochniuk (St Andrews) for a critical conversation on modes of knowledge transfer and the limits of representation when engaging with the ongoing war and occupation in Ukraine. The discussion asks what it means to know, witness, and communicate when infrastructures of representation are unstable or actively being dismantled.

Dr Ieva Gudaitytė is a music, sound and radio researcher at the University of Oslo. Her recently defended doctoral work, Listening to War Through Community Radio in Ukraine and Beyond investigates the aural politics of alternative sound media communities in Ukraine and their partners across Eastern and Central Europe. Her practice operates on the intersection of sound studies and cultural musicology. Her wider practice involves cultural journalism, creative writing, curating, teaching, and various radio work.

Di Yehorova is an interdisciplinary researcher, writer, and documentary producer interested in temporality, rupture, and the politics of space. Their work deploys counter-cartographic approaches to explore topologies of loss and love, speculative geographies of occupation, and alternative modes of knowing that emerge when conventional epistemologies fail.
