Animal Voices
Alex South – "A virtuoso ability…" according to The Herald – is a professional musician studying humpback whale song at the University of St Andrews and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
This concert will include notated and improvised music for clarinets and electronics inspired by whale and birdsong, as well as humpback whale recordings played in multi-channel immersive sound. Composers featured include Emily Doolittle, Stephen Gorbos, Olivier Messiaen, Jane Stanley and Hollis Taylor.
The concert will be introduced by Dr Ellen Garland of the Sea Mammal Research Unit at the University of St Andrews.
