Alien worlds and ourselves StA-CES networking event

The St Andrews Centre for Exoplanet Science (StA-CES), cutting across both the sciences and the humanities, would like to invite you to a networking event on Friday 31 May, taking place from noon until 3pm (lunch provided) at the Learning Loft of the Wardlaw Museum on the Scores.

The event includes the opportunity to view a new exhibition “Alien Worlds”.

Hear about biogeochemical cycles on the early Earth, the search for extraterrestrial intelligence and its consequences, as well as science-fiction stories inspired by exoplanet research in St Andrews.

We are interested in reaching out further across the University on any topic that covers alien worlds or what these might tell us about planet Earth and ourselves. If you wish to share your research through a lightning talk, please provide a single PowerPoint slide.

Brief event agenda:
12:00 StA-CES Introduction
12:15 Visit to Alien Worlds Exhibition
12:45 Buffet Lunch
13:15 Presentation of selected topics
14:00 Lightning talks by attendees and networking.

At 15:00 we will also have a chance to try out a new outreach activity designed by Deborah Kent (Mathematics & Statistics): the Human Orrery.
