A Conversation on Bridging Research and Practice in ESP

Join online event

The gap between research and practice in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) has long been a concern in the field. As part of its commitment to strengthening links between research and professional practice, the LSP Hub of the Centre for International, Language and Teacher Education Research (CILTER) is pleased to invite you to an online conversation on research and practice in ESP on Monday, 16 February 2026 (9:30-11:00am, UK time).

This session will explore what kinds of research ESP practitioners would most like to see, how research can be channelled more effectively into practice, and how closer collaboration might support both teaching and learning. Through this discussion, we hope that researchers, practitioners, and researcher-practitioners alike will gain ideas for valuable future directions.

The session will be chaired by Clarice Chan, LSP Hub Lead, who will give a short introduction, followed by a brief sharing by Evan Frendo, our featured contributor (see his bio below). The floor will then be opened for an interactive exchange of ideas.

This will be an informal, open and supportive discussion on an important issue in ESP.

We warmly invite you to join us!
