The University Observatory is a unique venue combining astronomical research, teaching and outreach. Managed by the School of Physics and Astronomy, the telescopes range from 6cm to 94cm in size and 1 year to 100 years in age. The observatory is mainly used by students and researchers; however, there are open nights and guided tours for members of the public and amateur astronomers.

Open Night at the University Observatory

The University Observatory will open its doors for the annual Open Night. Meet the local astronomers, learn about the observatory telescopes, and see the James Gregory Telescope in action. Observe planets, star clusters, and galaxies (weather permitting). With a new art-astronomy installation at the Twin Dome, including music soundtrack by the ambient/improvisational group Trio Ramberget…Observatory18:00 PM to 21:00 PM
