The Poetics and Politics of Embodiment: A Discussion with Artist Sonia Khurana Centre for the Critical Reimagining of Human Rights Event
Sonia Khurana is a visual artist based in New Delhi. She works with lens-based media—photography, video, the moving image, performance, text, drawing, sound, installation. Through her interdisciplinary, itinerant practice, she engages with structures of power and the psycho-social domains, exploring states of estrangement, displacement, and embodiment, often using her own body. The pulse at the heart of Sonia Khurana's art practice has been the exploration of the body post-resistance, positioning it as a mediator between affective states and the entanglements of place, presence, and the wider world. In this talk Sonia will introduce her work through presentation and discussion. The seminar will be introduced and framed by Professor Griselda Pollock
