SUMMARY:Privilege Bias in Algorithms
DESCRIPTION:How much is the technology we use entrenched in race and gender bias? As the COVID-19 pandemic has required most social interaction to take place online, we believe this is a pressing and important issue to examine. We represent four student societies at the University of St Andrews, Anthropology Society, Computing Society, Feminist Society and Sustainable Development Society, collaborating on the event and hope that it can educate and start productive interdisciplinary conversations on the topic. The panel will consist of three experts - Damien Williams from Virginia Tech, Moin Nadeem from MIT and Sanna Ojanperä from the Oxford Internet Institute. If you have any questions or concerns about accessibility please contact us through Facebook, Instagram or by email at anthsoc@st-andrews.ac.uk. https://events.st-andrews.ac.uk/events/privilege-bias-in-algorithms/
