SUMMARY:Exploring the Sociocultural Life of the Banana
DESCRIPTION:Why is the system behind bananas complex? How does social justice relate to agribusiness? What is it like to be a banana farmer? As a part of the Fairtrade Fortnight, the Sustainable Development Society will discuss the complex systems and processes behind the bananas that we consume. Our panelists will provide insight on the impact of Fairtrade certification on farmers, understanding the role of social justice movements in relation to agribusiness, and a first-hand account of what it is like working as a Fairtrade banana farmer. Join us at 2.30pm on Teams. You can access the event via this link: https://bit.ly/3pWsfzK https://events.st-andrews.ac.uk/events/exploring-the-sociocultural-life-of-the-banana/
