SUMMARY:Academic Forum: The St Andrews Learning and Teaching Initiative (SALTI) and The connected Curriculum
DESCRIPTION:SALTI is a University initiative which is focussed on encouraging and facilitating pedagogical research for all staff.  It is appropriate therefore that at the launch of SALTI we shine a spotlight on the Connected Curriculum, a concept which seeks to combine topics such as research and workplace application of knowledge with the student curricula journey, in which students themselves can ultimately become the agents of academic and societal change. The Connected Curriculum is in part about connecting our students to a range of experiences and learning situations such as cutting-edge research or interdisciplinary studies, and in part about changing the accepted norms about curriculum structure and function.  As we start to grow our Graduate course portfolio we have begun to implement this philosophy of curriculum design to enhance inter-disciplinary courses. To learn more about this game-changing approach to education, Professor Dilly Fung has kindly agreed to speak to us about the Connected Curriculum and its wider implications, along with the Provost (Monique Mackenzie) who will talk about our use of it thus far. Aims and objectives To introduce and launch the St Andrews Learning and Teaching Initiative To introduce and promote understanding of the Connected Curriculum concept To reflect on how the connected curriculum might work at St Andrews Hear about current applications of the concept in curricula at St Andrews Lunch is included and booking is essential.
