SUMMARY:Global Accessibility Awareness Day
DESCRIPTION:Thursday, May 21, 2020, marks the ninth Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD). The purpose of GAAD is to get everyone talking, thinking and learning about digital access/inclusion and people with different disabilities.    What is Digital Accessibility?  Every user deserves a great digital experience on the web. Someone with a disability must be able to experience web-based services, content and other digital products with the same successful outcome as those without disabilities. This awareness and commitment to inclusion is the goal of Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD), a global event that shines a light on digital access and inclusion for people with disabilities.    What we'll cover  Sheila Baillie and Kate Leavy are Disability Advisors within Student Services. Sheila and Kate will provide an overview of inclusive technology that students can access to assist their studies.    Jennifer Hamrick is a member of the University's Digital Communications team within Corporate Communications. Jennifer will provide an overview of accessibility dos and don'ts when you're creating web content.    Mark Cathro works for IT Services at the University. Mark will go through the built-in accessibility features available to all staff and students in Microsoft 365.    Daryl Haynes is lecture capture coordinate for CEED. Daryl will be sharing how accessibility challenges are overcome with Panopto so that all students can watch their lectures online.
