SUMMARY:Inaugural St. Margaret of Scotland Lecture by Sir James MacMillan (Live Stream, School II)
DESCRIPTION:Please Note: This is the registration page for those who wish to attend the Live Stream of Sir James MacMilan's talk on 'Catholicism and the Arts', occurring on the 19th of February at the University of St. Andrews. Tickets are free and the event is open to the public but there is limited space so please register below to secure a spot. The St Margaret of Scotland Lecture Series commemorates the life and legacy of Queen Margaret of Scotland. The Lecture Series is an annual event, focusing on intersections between Catholicism and theology or the arts. The inaugural lecture will be delivered by Sir James MacMillan on the subject ‘Catholicism and Music’ and introduced by the Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Sally Mapstone. Attendance is free and open to the public, but places are limited so please register via the link below. The St Margaret of Scotland Lecture Series precedes, and is attached to, an annual choral Mass, held at St Salvator’s Chapel, which celebrates the links between the University’s School of Divinity and Canmore, the Catholic Chaplaincy in St Andrews. The choral Mass will be presided over by his excellency, Archbishop Cushley. This year’s Mass will be set to James MacMillan’s Mass of John Henry Newman, and sung by St Salvator’s Chapel choir. A reception in Lower College Hall, hosted by the Principal’s Office, will directly follow the Mass. **Please note that no ticketed reservation is required to attend the Mass in St Salvator’s Chapel** The St. Margaret of Scotland Lecture Series is jointly organised by the Chaplain of Canmore, Rev Father Michael John Galbraith, and staff from the School of Divinity in consultation with the University’s Chaplaincy. The organisers are especially grateful to the Archdiocese of St Andrews and Edinburgh as well as the University’s Principal for generously supporting the inauguration of this new annual event. For further inquiries regarding the lecture series or choral Mass contact Dr Rebekah Lamb (rl89@st-Andrews.ac.uk). https://events.st-andrews.ac.uk/events/inaugural-st-margaret-of-scotland-lecture-by-sir-james-macmillan-live-stream-school-ii/
