SUMMARY:Researcher Wellbeing in International Relations
DESCRIPTION:Research in International Relations often involves working in high-pressure environments and engagement with participants and communities experiencing conflict and upheaval. It can involve sustained periods working on emotive, sensitive or distressing themes. How can researchers balance their academic commitments and their wellbeing? This event aims to further conversations on researcher wellbeing in the School of International Relations. In the first part, we will have a presentation and Q&A with Mauireen Quinn from the Global Office on the University Travel Tool, risk assessments, and fieldwork risks. The second part of the event, open to IR staff and PhD students only, will be space for us to share experiences, discuss best practices for ensuring wellbeing before, during and after fieldwork, and look at what support we might need going forward. https://events.st-andrews.ac.uk/events/researcher-wellbeing-in-international-relations/
