SUMMARY:The Pulse of Twilight
DESCRIPTION:The Pulse of Twilight: interdisciplinary explorations of the Twilight Saga aims to examine the various themes and concepts that made Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Saga so popular. Postgraduate scholars from any and all disciplines are invited to present their research that either explores the Twilight Saga or uses the books as a springboard for other scholarly investigations. We will be examining questions such as: what do the books tell us about what it means to be a monster, how have the Cullens transformed our idea of the vampire, and is Renesmee even a medical possibllity? Meyer's vampires have left an irrefutable and irrevocable mark on popular culture and conference participants will have the opportunity to explore that impact through diverse scholarly fields. The papers will be followed by a screening of the first Twilight film, with snacks provided. Postgraduate taught (PGT) and postgraduate research (PGR) students are invited to submit a 200-word abstract to Madeleine Meyer at mm625@st-andrews.ac.uk and Emily Hammer on ebh7@st-andrews.ac.uk with the subject line Twilight by Monday 10 March at 11.59pm. Final presentations should be no more than 15 minutes long. UG students are welcome to attend. Please sign up using the online form, which is also available using the more information link below.
