SUMMARY:Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Computational Algebra (CIRCA) lunchtime seminar
DESCRIPTION:There will be a Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Computational Algebra (CIRCA) lunchtime seminar on Thursday 14th November at 1pm in Maths Lecture Theatre D. Özgür Akgün and Peter Cameron will speak at this CIRCA seminar, Özgür on 'Abnormal Magic Hexagons' and Peter on 'Recognising the commuting graphs of groups'. Özgür's abstract: I will talk about modelling (abnormal) magic hexagons in CP and the seemingly unreasonable effectiveness of linear relaxations when solving instances of this problem. I do not yet have a good explanation as to why a linear relaxation works so well on this problem. Details about this event can be found at https://circa.wp.st-andrews.ac.uk/2024/11/13/circa-seminar-14th-november/ For more information about CIRCA and its activities, visit https://circa.st-andrews.ac.uk/ https://events.st-andrews.ac.uk/events/centre-for-interdisciplinary-research-in-computational-algebra-circa-lunchtime-seminar-2/
