DESCRIPTION:CSRP International Colloquium 20th Anniversary: "Rethinking Religion and Politics"  St. Mary's College Hall 10-5 (Registration required. Write to mia2@st-andrews.ac.uk     The Centre for the Study of Religion and Politics (CSRP) of the University of St. Andrews was founded by Professor Mario I Aguilar in October 2004, see CSRP -- Centre for the Study of Religion and Politics -- St Andrews site (st-andrews.ac.uk)    With staff members from different Schools of the University and with a track-record of substantial projects in Asia, Africa and Latin America, particularly in areas of religion and politics and world religions, the CSRP will celebrate its anniversary with an International Colloquium on Saturday 5th October 2024 9-5 in the St Mary's College Hall. The Religion and Politics Lecture will be delivered at 10.45am by Dr Kate Kirkpatrick of Regent's Park College, Oxford.    Full Program:    10.00 Opening Celebratory remarks by Dr Gordon T. Barclay  10.10 "Religion and Politics over 20 years and the public impact of the future" by CSRP Director.    10.45 The Religion and Politics Lecture 2024 will be delivered by Dr Kate Kirkpatrick (Regent's Park College, Oxford). Title: "There must be religion for women as for the people": Beauvoir on Marx, Women, and Religion'. Followed by general discussion.    12.00-1.00 Roundtable 1: Aspects of indigenous knowledge, and the rights of the poor and the marginalised. Dr Ann Simpson (CSRP) and Aaron Pelot (CSRP). General Discussion.    3-5pm Roundtable 2: Interfaith dialogue with Islam, Islamophobia and avenues for the different Kingdoms. Different speakers (15 minutes each): Dr AH Abubaker (Principal of Al-Maktoum College Dundee), Professor Douglas Pratt (New Zealand), Professor James H. Morris (Waseda University, Japan), Dr Mary Hunter (online from Pakistan), Dr Marjorie Gourley (CSRP).
