DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to invite you to the first ILCR Lecture of the semester by Janet McLean (Auckland) on 'The dog that did not bark: free and frank advice to Ministers and the Northcote and Trevelyan Report on the Civil Service'. It will be followed by a reception with pizza.    Janet McLean is a Professor of Law at the University of Auckland and a leading authority on law and governance. Professor McLean has held a number of prestigious roles, including the Chair in Law and Governance at the University of Dundee, and was appointed New Zealand King's Counsel in 2020 for her significant contributions to the law. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand and co-editor of the Public Law Review.    Her published works explore the history and theory of governance and the state, including This Realm of New Zealand and Searching for the State in British Legal Thought. Professor McLean also holds honorary professorships at the University of St Andrews and the University of Dundee and is a visiting professor at the University of Melbourne.
