SUMMARY:SABG's Summer Art Nights: A Thousand Visions Escape
DESCRIPTION:To celebrate the fourth weekend of our Summer Art Nights, the Botanic Garden invites you to a final evening with our artists-in-residence, Studio Lemercier, co-directed by curator Juliette Bibasse and artist Joanie Lemercier.    As we reflect on past weeks, we will showcase new work which the artists have developed during their residency, specific to St Andrews Botanic Garden, sharing reflections on the Garden's ecology and possible climate futures.    For this new body of work, Studio Lemercier used a plotting machine capable of producing drawings based on various imaginary plants. They were generated with a database and AI, as well as a set of specific variables which the artist questions at the same time, to allow Studio Lemercier to interrogate different modes of knowledge production. This includes exploring the result and its accuracy from the perspective of an experienced botanist at the St Andrews Botanic Garden.    Studio Lemercier will be joined by Dr Brenda Parker, co-founder of Studio Biocene, a design collective founded by a biochemical engineer and an architect rooted in practice and academia. By bringing together the realms of art, design and biochemical engineering, we will explore interdisciplinary perspectives on the interactions of light, water, computation and organic matter.
