SUMMARY:STACEES event series: Net Zero and the Direction of Travel in Scottish HE
DESCRIPTION:Net Zero and the Direction of Travel in Scottish HE How can Scotland's higher education institutions lead the way in supporting the UK government's Net Zero ambitions? Where are we right now and where do the future challenges lie? How can the transition towards more sustainable travel be inclusive, fair and support Scotland's research and teaching ambitions? This four-part event series explores three key strands of travel through hybrid delivery talks delivered by a range of invited speakers, plus a chaired open discussion. Abstract What is the higher education sector doing to reduce its research ('business') transport emissions? How does the University of St Andrews fit within that context? Join us as Lara Fahey from the Alliance for Sustainability Leadership in Education (EAUC Scotland) explores these timely questions. Whether you are a student, staff member or simply an interested listener, come along to learn what you and your peers might do to help reduce research 'business' travel emissions on our collective journey to net-zero. Speaker After graduating from the University of St Andrews with a first class BSc (Hons) Biology degree, Lara Fahey started her sustainable transport career as the first Campus Cycling Officer at the University of St Andrews and subsequently its first Sustainable Travel Officer. After a brief period in the Netherlands and six years' experience working with organisations across Scotland to transition to active and sustainable modes of transport, her latest venture has been to write and publish EAUC Scotland's *Business Travel Guide for the Further and Higher Education sector. *https://www.eauc.org.uk/eauc-scotland_publishes_business_travel_guide https://events.st-andrews.ac.uk/events/stacees-event-series-net-zero-and-the-direction-of-travel-in-scottish-he-4/
