SUMMARY:Centre for Energy Ethics Energy Café
DESCRIPTION:How were extractive practices and energy thought of and represented two hundred years ago? And what can they tell us about today? We are very excited to invite you to our first Energy Café of this semester, next Tuesday 18 January at 12pm, online. Presented by Dr Stephanie O'Rourke, Lecturer in the School of Art History, the title of the Café is "The Art of Extraction in Nineteenth-Century Europe". Dr O'Rourke will discuss how practices like forest management and mining raised new questions about the status of humankind in early nineteenth-century Europe, and how artists took up this question in their paintings. N.B. This event will be recorded for public distribution. We hope you will join us for what promises to be a great Café! https://events.st-andrews.ac.uk/events/centre-for-energy-ethics-energy-cafe/
