SUMMARY:CIMS Seminar: Fabulation and Forgetting in Literature and Memory Studies
DESCRIPTION:This talk will engage with the experiential entanglements of fabulation and forgetting as represented in literature and memory studies. Drawing on psychological as well as cultural studies' research on forgetting and storytelling at the interface of micro/mental and shared/extended levels, the talk will highlight the significance of studying encoding, erasures and ellipses for a fuller and more complex understanding of remembering. Lastly, the talk will underline the special significance of fiction as a representational and narrative medium to engage with the play of presence and absence informing the phenomenal function of memory. Online via Teams. To attend this seminar please subscribe to the CIMS mailing list by sending an email to cims@st-andrews.ac.uk with the word 'Subscribe' on the subject line. https://events.st-andrews.ac.uk/events/cims-seminar-fabulation-and-forgetting-in-literature-and-memory-studies/
