DESCRIPTION:Please join the School of Art History and the Museum, Galleries and Collection Institute for a lecture on The Leonardo da Vinci Exhibition at the Louvre (2019-2020): 'a blockbuster with brains'. Vincent Delieuvin is a Senior Curator in the Department of Paintings at the Louvre where he is in charge of the whole collection of 16th century Italian paintings. Since he joined the Louvre in 2006, he has curated or co-curated a number of major exhibitions, such as 'Titian, Tintoretto, Veronese: Rivals in Renaissance Venice' in 2009, 'Late Raphael' and 'Leonardo da Vinci's St Anne' in 2012, and the major show dedicated to Leonardo in 2019 to mark the 500th anniversary of the painter's death. An internationally recognised scholar on Italian Renaissance painting, Vincent will talk about the multiple and diverse challenges of curating an exhibition on the most famous and celebrated Renaissance painter.
