SUMMARY:Stars and Spectra
DESCRIPTION:A family-friendly concert by a brass band consisting of The Wallace Collection, members of the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland (NYBBS) and members of local brass bands. They will be joined by 24 children from the university's outreach project 'StAMP: Discovering Brass' for two pieces; the first time since the project began in July 2020 that we have been able to bring participants together.    The concert contains music written by living Scottish composers, well-known composers of the past and a newly devised piece written by John Wallace and the Discovering Brass children. It will be presented by Ellen Thomson from the Music Centre and Dr Anne-Marie Weijmans from the Department of Physics and Astronomy, who will connect the music to light and astronomy throughout the ages.
