Winter meeting of the General Council

The winter meeting of the General Council, whose membership includes all graduates of the University and certain categories of staff, will take place on Saturday 30 November 2019 at 10.30am in Parliament Hall, South Street, St Andrews, Fife KY16 9JU. Tea/coffee will be available from 10am.

Members are encouraged to attend to hear about recent developments and to catch up with fellow members.

In her capacity as Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sally Mapstone will preside and, as Principal, will deliver the University address. Ms Wendy Russell, the Convener of the Business Committee, will report on the Committee's activities since the last General Council meeting in June. In addition, Professor Garry Taylor, former Deputy Principal and Master, will give a presentation entitled: Evolution of music and apes at St Andrews: the new Laidlaw Music Centre and the Edinburgh Zoo Budongo Research Unit.

While pre-registration is not required for the meeting, it would be helpful to know if you are planning to attend. To assist us with our arrangements, please register, stating your full name, year of graduation, degree and subject of study, if applicable, by sending an email to: [email protected]

A link to the 'billet' (meeting paper) will be sent to members in advance of the meeting and printed copies will be available at the meeting. If required in advance, a printed copy may be requested by contacting the General Council Office on 01334 461913.
