This course is intended for those who are new to engaging with Wikipedia and her sister projects, or those who have dabbled in the past and are looking for additional training.

It will introduce you to how to engage with Wikipedia and with the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Network in Open Knowledge (EDI Network), launched this morning (Thursday 1 April). This training event will introduce Wikipedia as a platform, how it can be used for teaching and knowledge exchange/public engagement practice, as well as hands-on training in how to get started editing Wikipedia. This session will be delivered by the founding members of the EDI Network.

NB Abd Alsattar Ardati will be observing this training session as part of his PhD research into remote Wikipedia training and its impact on participants, which has received ethical approval from the University [CS15105]. He will only take anonymous written observational field notes. You will have the opportunity to give consent at the beginning of the session. If you do not wish to be observed, there will be additional training sessions available to book in the future.
