US Foreign Service Symposium: ADST century of service with special guests Careers Centre
Join us for a special symposium celebrating 100 years of the modern U.S. Foreign Service, hosted in collaboration with the Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training (ADST), the Careers Centre and the School of International Relations. This landmark event will highlight the centenary of the Foreign Service alongside St Andrews' long-standing connections to international relations and U.S. engagement.
We are delighted to feature special guest speakers including a live call from Washington DC with Tom Selinger, Executive Director of ADST. Together, our guests will share insights into the history, impact and modern realities of US diplomacy and the diverse career pathways it offers.
As part of this celebration, the symposium will also showcase an ADST and student-led exhibition, A Century of Service: 100 Years of U.S. Diplomacy. The exhibition brings to life a century of diplomatic stories drawn from the oral histories of ambassadors, diplomats and St Andrews alumni, offering a fascinating window into the evolving relationship between the U.S. and the UK.
This event offers an exceptional opportunity for students to explore the history and significance of U.S. diplomacy, while gaining insight into careers in international relations through a live Q&A with our guest panel.
There will also be the opportunity for informal networking over tea, coffee and sweet bites.
