The Andrew Carnegie Lecture Series: Mark Sedwill, Baron Sedwill of Sherborne GCMG FRGS LLD Global Challenges: Cooperation in the Era of Competition
Development invites you to hear from Mark Sedwill, Baron Sedwill of Sherborne GCMG FRGS LLD as part of The Andrew Carnegie Lecture Series for his talk titled “Global Challenges: Cooperation in the Era of Competition”.
Lord Sedwill was Cabinet Secretary & Head of the Civil Service (2018-20), National Security Adviser (2017-20), Permanent Secretary at the Home Office (2013-17), and British Ambassador and NATO Representative in Afghanistan (2009-11). Before that he had a diplomatic and security career serving in Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Cyprus and Pakistan.
Carnegie Corporation of New York was established by Andrew Carnegie in 1911 “to promote the advancement and diffusion of knowledge and understanding”. Today it continues to fulfil that mission, funding major programmes in such fields as education, democracy and international peace.
To celebrate its centenary, the Corporation established a ten-year programme of public lectures at Scotland's ancient universities: St Andrews, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow. The programme brings some of the world's most creative thinkers in the fields of the arts, sciences, education and international affairs to Scotland.
At St Andrews we are grateful that the Carnegie Corporation's generous funding of this lecture series allows us to open a new chapter in our long-standing relationship with Andrew Carnegie and the values he promoted.
All welcome. Doors open at 5.30pm.
(There is no registration required to attend this event).
