Technology Enhanced Learning staff design sprint

Over the past few months the Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) project has consulted with staff and students across the University to understand the problems people encounter in the digital learning and teaching space. For students there is a great degree of confusion with regards to the different learning and teaching systems (MMS and Moodle), which are used to administer and deliver module content, and staff have also noted areas of complexity.

The priority therefore is to enhance the student and staff experience through a single, integrated teaching and learning environment that does not change the underlying systems, but provides a simpler way of accessing their capabilities.

With this in mind, on behalf of the TEL project, the digital communications team are hosting a digital teaching and learning environment design sprint for academic teaching staff and professional services staff who use MMS and/or Moodle at the University.

A design sprint is a framework for answering critical business questions through design, prototyping and testing. The design sprint process allows the users and stakeholders of a product/project to understand any problems, and then collaboratively generate design ideas to a possible solution.

A full business case for an integrated teaching and learning environment is being prepared and will be presented to the Business Transformation Board (BTB) this spring. The approach the project board is using to finalise the proposal will focus on running three iterative development 'sprints' working with staff and students to define problems, design and test solutions and implement change to the digital teaching and learning environment.

The team needs your help as collaborators in this process to ensure that the solution meets the needs of staff. To help you see how the process works, an earlier student portal design sprint is summarised on the digital communications blog.

Spaces are limited, so if you are interested in attending, please book in advance by emailing [email protected].

Refreshments will be provided.
