Talk by Tristan Henderson on "Just because it's public doesn't mean it's public domain"

The constant flows of data in our data-driven society have given rise
to numerous large sources of data for researchers. It is tempting to
dive right in and start exploring (“data-driven analysis” or even
“hypothesis-free science”) but just because you have access to data,
it does not necessarily mean that you have carte blanche to analyse at
will.

In this talk I will look at some of the potential pitfalls of
analysing public datasets. I will discuss a variety of controversial
cases, and look to technological, legal and ethical solutions for
responsible data use.
