St Leonard's College through the ages (1512-2024): A drop-in exhibition A fascinating glimpse into the University's history through rarely seen items from University Collections
The celebrations of the 50th Anniversary since the reconstitution of St Leonard's College as a postgraduate college continue with another exclusive event: a historical showcase of St Leonard's College and postgraduate life at the University of St Andrews through the display of rarely seen items from University Collections.
All students and staff are invited to the drop-in session that will offer a unique opportunity to see some of the highlights of our archive and rare book collections in person. The display will include examples of early printed books, medieval manuscripts and records documenting the history of St Leonard's College from its foundation in 1512 to its reconstitution in 1974, and the postgraduate experience in St Andrews. Most of the objects on display are normally kept in the University's Collections, and are not displayed in public (though they are available to researchers and in teaching).
The event will be introduced by the Provost of St Leonard's College and Assistant Vice-Principal and Dean of Learning and Teaching Professor Frank Lorenz Müller. Curatorial staff will be available to answer your questions about accessing University Collections and how they can be used in your studies and research.
No booking necessary but please arrive early as capacity is limited to 20 people at a time.
