The music of the baroque, classical and neo-classical meet in this spectacular concert in which the St Andrews Chamber Orchestra are led by the members of the Music Centre's ensemble in residence, the Fitzwilliam String Quartet. St Salvator's Chapel Choir join the orchestra in Vivaldi's vigorous setting of the Magnificat before Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos pays a jovial tribute to Mozart in his Sinfonietta no.1. The concert concludes with one of Mozart's great, late symphonies, the Jupiter, composed as the last of a set of three, perhaps intended for performance in London, in 1788.
