St Andrews-Bonn Expert Panel: multi-disciplinary approaches to the pandemic

In collaboration with our strategic partner, the University of Bonn, and Scotland House Brussels, the Global Office invites you to attend an expert panel session exploring multi-disciplinary approaches to the pandemic.

In the wake of the ongoing global pandemic, the vital role that universities play in dynamically and innovatively responding to national and international crises has been emphasised.

This session will offer a unique insight into the regional and national responses to Covid-19 in both the UK and Germany, as well as look towards the future impact and challenges for Europe.

The session will be moderated by Catherine Stihler OBE and will feature the following panel members:

  • Professor Sir Ian Boyd, University of St Andrews
  • Professor Moritz Kuhn, University of Bonn
  • Professor Cornelia Richter, University of Bonn
  • Professor Garry Taylor, University of St Andrews

The event will include a Q&A session, as well an introduction from Mike Neilson, Scottish Government Director in Brussels, and remarks from Professor Sally Mapstone, St Andrews Principal & Vice-Chancellor, and Professor Michael Hoch, Rector, University of Bonn. Ms Simona Guagliardo, Policy Analyst at the European Policy Centre, will also provide an insight into the Covid response from a European policy perspective.

Registration is required to join this event. Please register at the link below.

The panel session coincides with a number of other virtual events taking place in Brussels in November, all of which will reaffirm our commitment to building strong partnerships in Europe and celebrate our long-lasting relationship with the University of Bonn.

Scotland House Brussels will also host two closed academic roundtables which will bring together researchers from Bonn and St Andrews to discuss their Covid-19 research and lay the groundwork for future collaborative partnerships between our two institutions.
