Service of Thanksgiving for emeritus Professor Willie Russell

All are welcome at a Service of Thanksgiving for emeritus Professor Willie Russell, who died in October last year.

The service will feature contributions including music and poetry from colleagues, friends and family.

Emeritus Professor Russell was appointed Chair of the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology at St Andrews in 1984, after 20 years at the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) in London where he served as Head of the Virology Division. Willie established a virology division in St Andrews that continues to thrive to this day. He retired in 1995, but remained engaged in research and was a constant and enthusiastic presence at departmental research seminars right up until his illness a few years ago.

There will be an opportunity to give an offering for the charity Jessie's Fund. Following the service there will be a reception at the Beacon Bar, Students Association, to which all are welcome. Further details are available from the Chaplaincy, at [email protected] or on 01334 462866.
