Police Scotland Special Constabulary Information Event

Police Scotland will be on campus promoting the Special Constabulary, a branch of volunteers who support the regular Police service. Members of the Police service will be at the Careers Centre to speak to both staff and students who are interested in training and taking on the role as a special constable in their spare time. All welcome.

Police Scotland was formally established on 1 April 2013 and is responsible for policing across the length and breadth of Scotland. Police Scotland is the second largest force in the UK after the Metropolitan Police.

There are 13 local policing divisions, each headed by a Local Police Commander who ensures that local policing in each area is responsive, accountable and tailored to meet local needs. Each division encompasses response officers, community officers, local crime investigation, road policing, public protection and local intelligence.

Volunteers have actively supported policing in Scotland for more than 100 years through the Special Constabulary.
