A public lecture with Peter Watkins, former Director-General Strategy & International, Ministry of Defence.

Peter Watkins worked for over three decades in government service on defence and national security issues. From April 2014 to November 2018, he was the Director-General in the Ministry of Defence (MOD) responsible for strategic defence policy and planning, key multilateral and bilateral defence relationships (including the UK’s contributions to NATO and the defence implications of exiting the European Union), and defence policy on deterrence (nuclear and non-nuclear), cyber, space and prosperity (exports and inward investment).

This role was known latterly as Director-General Strategy & International and before that as Director-General Security Policy. He is now a Visiting Professor with King’s College London, a Visiting Senior Fellow with the London School of Economics and an Associate Fellow of Chatham House.
