Interaction in large online lectures: polling and quizzes Live from the Hive: lunchtime sessions for online teaching - session 1

Lunchtime sessions supporting online teaching, primarily led by academic staff, centrally supported by the Technology Enhanced Learning team, will take place throughout this coming semester. Sessions begin on Thursday 3 September, from 1pm to 2pm.

The second session will be on Thursday 10 September, and from then on will take place every other Thursday at lunchtime, from 1pm to 2pm, throughout the semester.

The theme of the first session is ‘Interaction in large online lectures: polling and quizzes'.

Format: A ten-minute presentation, normally by a member of academic staff, followed by a relaxed, informal, round table discussion where we share our knowledge and ask questions on that session's theme. Feel free to bring along a part of a lecture that you are working on and that you think would benefit from the discussion on the particular theme we are working on together.

The lunchtime sessions for online teaching are open to everyone involved in teaching across the University (including PhD students) and aim to give all teachers as much support as possible. Their format and themes are flexible to suit the dynamic environment in which we find ourselves.

The series is part of the Technology Enhanced Learning team's ‘Live from the Hive' series and will take place on the ‘Live from the Hive' Teams channel.
