Lunchtime concert by James Gilchrist (tenor) and Jeremy Thurlow (piano) - £5, FREE for Music Centre members
One of most celebrated British singers of his generation, James Gilchrist enjoys equal
status as a performer of baroque music (not least as the most in-demand Evangelist
for Bach's Passions in the UK), art song and opera. Following recent performances at
the Opéra National de Paris, with the Dutch Bach Society and at Oxford International
Song Festival, Gilchrist comes to St Andrews to perform and work with the Music
Centre's vocal scholars. His lunchtime concert includes six songs from Butterworth's
A Shropshire Lad, settings of texts by the late Scottish poet John Burnside composed
by Gilchrist's duo partner Jeremy Thurlow and Gabriel Fauré's La Bonne Chanson.
