The opening of the seventeenth-century saw the publication of several monumental collections of lute music and secular songs from England, France, Germany and Italy. Inspired byJohan Baptiste Beard's Thesaurus Harmonicus and the Dolmetsch lute manuscript, recently purchased by the University of Edinburgh, lutenist Eric Thomas and mezzo-soprano Elizabeth Unsworth-Wilson perform an eclectic collection of seventeenth century songs and lute pieces from England to Italy.
