Jen Stout: On the Night Train to Odesa, and Ethical Reportage in Hard Times - Free

On February, 28, 4pm at UCO School V you will have a unique opportunity to meet Jen Stout, the author of an award-winning book, Night Train to Odesa. Jen Stout is a journalist, writer, and radio producer based in Scotland, frequently working in Ukraine. Originally from Shetland she has traveled extensively, covering pressing and oftentimes complex topics of cultural conflict, war, colonialism for the Sunday Post and BBC Radio. Jen's empathic and heartfelt style of reporting is based on deep understanding of the ethics of interviewing, and of cultural and social processes that take place in the countries she is covering.

During our talk Jen will delve into an exciting field of sociologically-informed reporting – looking at society, power, identity, and narratives. The talk will be of particular interest to all involved in area studies, social and cultural anthropology, politics, media, art history, and international relations.

The event is free and all the interested are welcome to come. The event will precede Jen's book presentation at Toppings at 7 pm (link to registration and tickets: https://www.toppingbooks.co.uk/events/st-andrews/jen-stout-night-train-to-odesa/ ).
