Enterprise Week: The ingredients for starting a food or drink company
Join Entrepreneurship Centre colleagues for the first day of Enterprise Week 2023, covering all things food and drink.
We're delighted to be joined by two entrepreneurs for a panel discussion to share their experiences and insights into what it takes to create a successful food or drink company, reflecting on their own journeys and spilling the tea on their highs, lows and everything in between.
Join Rachel Hanretty, Owner and Founder at Mademoiselle Macaron, and Juno Lee, Co-Founder and CEO of CombiniCo, both alumni of the University of St Andrews, to find out what ingredients you need to start a food or drink company.
Rachel Hanretty
Rachel studied English and French at St Andrews with a year abroad spent in Paris. It was there that she learned how to make French macarons and fell even more in love with French food and culture. She started Mademoiselle Macaron in 2013 from her flat where she baked macarons and sold them at local food markets. In the last ten years she has grown the business to a team of 20 with customers that range from five-star hotels to pop stars, and has a thriving ecommerce store.
Juno Lee
Juno started his first business at 18, branding and distributing Vermont-made ice cream products in the US, and worked in the music entertainment industry in Tokyo, releasing a self-produced album with a record label at 17. After completing a summer internship in corporate venture capital in Tokyo, he returned to St Andrews for his third year of studies and co-founded CombiniCo. He has recently completed his two-year national service in the Republic of Korea Marine Corps (ROKMC), where he received numerous awards and recognitions from the generals of both the US and ROK forces. He has also graduated top of his class in the ROKMC bootcamp.
