Energy Café on marine mammals and marine renewables: reconciling environmental risks

Growth in marine renewable energy (MRE) generation is critical to meeting CO2 reduction targets. However, uncertainties about potential impacts of marine renewables on marine mammals are a key consenting risk for the MRE industry around the world.

This seminar will present the latest research carried out by the Sea Mammal Research Unit (SMRU) into interactions between marine mammals and MRE developments and aims to provide a forum for discussion about the potential environmental risks and benefits of MRE to marine mammals.
