Cyborg Orgy and looking at the ecocide through theatre Dispatches from the Quiet Centre, Centre for Arts and Politics, with Liuba Ilnytska

Join our online talk with Liuba Ilnytska, a dramaturg from Lviv who collaborates with the independent Theatre Nafta in Kharkiv, who will talk about her recent project, the performance Cyborg Orgy, dedicated to the topic of ecocide in Ukraine caused by Russian aggression.

Liuba Ilnytska develops various strategies for problematising stage fiction through documentary and physical theatre methodologies. Liuba's work focuses on collective memory, identity politics, and the socially engaged body. Liuba works as an independent dramaturg and the performing arts programme curator of the Jam Factory Art Center in Lviv. Since 2023, she has collaborated with the independent Theatre Nafta in Kharkiv, where she recently co-created the performance Cyborg Orgy.

Discussion will consist of a 15-minute talk followed by a brief discussion and a question and answer (Q&A) session. The dispatches will be moderated by Dr Jeffrey Murer of the Centre for Arts and Politics and Viktoriia Grivina, a St Andrews PhD student and author from the Quiet Centre residency. The aim of the dispatches is to open a window, a time-and-space portal between St Andrews and Kharkiv, pondering the connections, policies of knowledge production, and communities of the places.

The registration link will be available before the event. In the meantime, email Viktoriia at [email protected] if you would like to attend.
