Enterprise Week: Consulting Day

Enterprise Week 2020 welcomes Ellie Hearne and Andrew Exler to explain their journeys as entrepreneurs.

Ellie Hearne is the founder of Pencil or Ink, a leadership-communications firm based in New York City. As a coach, facilitator and workplace-culture consultant, she has worked with Apple, Google, Marriott, Mastercard, Spotify, and numerous small businesses and startups besides. Ellie has been quoted in The New York Times on workplace communications and in Business Insider on entrepreneurship.

Prior to joining the private sector, she worked in international development at a nonprofit in New York and a research organisation in New Delhi. She earned her MA in International Relations from St Andrews in 2007, and is currently studying Organisational Leadership at Oxford University's Saïd Business School. Born in Ireland, she grew up in Scotland and now resides in Brooklyn with her family.

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Andrew Exler has built his life and career around working with and improving the lives of others. Andrew is the Founder and Chief Strategist of Andrew Exler Consulting, providing expertise in social media marketing and professional development to nonprofits, start-ups and small businesses. Andrew is also the Founder and CEO of My New Summer, a nonprofit helping people prepare for life after camp.   

Andrew is a 2013 graduate from the Ohio University College of Business, where he became a Brother of Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity and was on the Men's Club Lacrosse team. He earned a Certificate in Accounting from the University of Pittsburgh in 2018.   

Andrew sits on the Board of Trustees at Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh. He is also a committee member for Pittsburgh's 50 Finest with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, where he was an honoree in 2016. In his free time Andrew coaches lacrosse. He Lives in Pittsburgh with his fiancée and their two dogs. 

This lecture is free and open to everyone, students, staff and the public.
