Join us at the Byre Theatre this June to celebrate International Museums Day by exploring the world of 'community museums' in Europe and Latin America.

The community museums 'and the role of youth' exhibition, curated by Museum and Gallery Studies part-time student Helen Olaez, will run throughout June and features illustrated panels on community museums from Scotland, Peru and Costa Rica (ground floor foyer) and selected photographs and testimonials from the exciting EU-LAC Museums bi-regional Youth Exchange Scotland/Portugal/Costa Rica coordinated by the University's School of Art History (level four).

Bring your children along to have a go at mask-making inspired by the exhibition at this free, drop in event.

The exhibition will be complemented by a number of events, including: talks on the Horizon2020-funded EU-LAC Museums project by Project Coordinator Dr Karen Brown and Youth Programme Worker Jamie Brown of the School of Art History; a documentary screening of the project's youth exchange; and a talk on innovative new research being conducted in Peru by Professor Nina Laurie of the School of Geography and Sustainable Development.

Monday 17 June, 5.30pm -- talks on the Horizon2020-funded EU-LAC Museums project and the research in Peru (free but ticketed)
Tuesday 18 June, 5.30pm -- documentary screening of the Horizon2020-funded EU-LAC Museums project youth exchange (free but ticketed)
